Monday    9/28/09

             Team meeting potentially. We will be using our Circle time to debrief our first few weeks of school.

Reading: Fluency using the information that Mrs. Monroe has accumulated. We will have an emphasis on fluency this week and friday will be using what we have practiced for a Readers Theatre.  Read Aloud; We will be reading The Ghost of Spirit Bear. From this book we will document any Homophones we encounter.

Writing we will be working on skills they have not mastered such as, Subject/Verb agreement, Pronouns, and combining sentences to make meaningful sentences. We will also be working on our seed ideas from our journals. Our class will be constructing a readers theatre of our own from one of the books we have read.

Tuesday    9/29/09

Fluency ; One minute with the unknown words underlined and defined. We will have an emphasis on fluency this week and friday will be using what we have practiced for a Readers Theatre.  Read Aloud; We will be reading The Ghost of Spirit Bear. From this book we will document any Homophones we encounter. We will be using our homophones in a meaningful sentence.

Thursday   10/01/09

Friday    10/02/09

Fluency using the students books along with the usual sheet they recieve on Mondays. We will have an emphasis on fluency this week and friday will be using what we have practiced for a Readers Theatre.  Read Aloud; We will be reading The Ghost of Spirit Bear. From this book we will document any Homophones we encounter.

The students should be reading 30 minutes every night even though they are also reading during DEAR time at school. The more the students read the better reader they will be. The students will begin working on their book summaries this week. They should have completed one by Friday the 2nd of October. Remember to check thier reading logs to determine what they have been reading and that it is ready to turn in on Friday.
